Symposium on inclusion

“Inclusion is a neurological process. It is the ability of the human brain to reorganise the data in its possession for aims higher than personal ones”: this sums up Paoletti’s thinking on inclusion, a very timely theme that will be explored in depth at the international conference “Decent work, equity and inclusion: passwords for the present and the future”, organised by SIO (Società Internazionale di Orientamento, the International Society for Guidance) in collaboration with the University of Padua, to be held from 5 to 7 October. Paoletti has been invited to take part as a member of the scientific committee.

At the conference a Manifesto on Inclusion, will be presented, the result of a collective effort by those who believe inclusion is a central issue for the fate of today’s society and to which Paoletti contributed.

For Patrizio the true key to inclusion lies in the ability to know oneself: “There can be no inclusion – he says – if every person is not educated to know and recognise their own inner movements and to be aware of them. Only in this way, with training in awareness and an orientation towards improving oneself and the whole, will it be possible to drive away the prejudice, inequality and violence that follow. Everything begins from within.”.

At the conference, the Patrizio Paoletti Foundation has also been invited to present a research study, carried out in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology of Sapienza University of Rome, in a symposium on 7 October, which Paoletti will chair, on the main themes of the conference, titled: “Improving the quality of work in educational communities: an interdisciplinary research to grow and help others grow”.

The international conference was created to reflect on work, equity and inclusion, themes that will be increasingly central in the coming years, in a society facing ever more complex challenges and in which “the guidance sciences, economics, the social and human sciences, and the services and professions concerned with people’s wellbeing and future must do their part, proposing and anticipating new visions, different sensitivities and skills to be stimulated and put into circulation”.

The European Union’s 2020 strategies, the United Nations 2030 agenda for sustainable development, and the repeated recommendations of the International Labour Organization invite us to anchor ourselves to authentically social and inclusive values and virtues.
