On 9 and 10 October the Official Opening Conference of the UNESCO Chair “CULTURAL LANDSCAPES OF THE MEDITERRANEAN AND COMMUNITY OF KNOWLEDGE” of the University of Basilicata, established in December 2016, will be held in Matera. It will be the occasion for the Chair to meet its partners and work together on action strategies for the coming years.
The Conference is interactive, both in plenary and in groups, and sees the participation, as a partner, of the Paoletti Foundation, which will contribute to the work with workshop sessions presenting some actions that, as a research institute, it will put in place to support the UNESCO project.
The workshop sessions will be accompanied by 4 main keynote lectures on strategic themes, one of which will be given by Patrizio Paoletti himself, who will explore the theme of inner landscapes, which intertwine and constantly interact with outer ones: “When we speak – in fact – of inner landscapes or “scenographies of the soul”, we speak of what is connected to the sign and its relation-effect with the creation of our inner architecture, of our system of representation within ourselves in the midst of life, things and people.”
The lectio will be a thematic synthesis of the path of research and study in the field of didactic neuropsychopedagogy, in relation to the main themes of the UNESCO Chair: human development towards the values of peaceful coexistence and dialogue, and the need and possibility, through interdisciplinary approaches, of building inner and therefore outer environments able to awaken emotions and thoughts connected to the deepest human aspirations present in every culture.
The two working days, open to the public, were organised in synergy with the European Network of Universities for the implementation of the European Landscape Convention.
The partners and interlocutors of the Chair, the faculty of the University, and the representatives of the UNESCO institutions and ministries with which the Chair works will take an active part in the Conference’s activities, presented and facilitated by the Chair’s team. Interested students and members of the public may also join the working groups.
