What is love, if violence is the absence from life?
In this article, we explore a new perspective on the law of love.
Since the beginning of humankind, violence has existed.
But this does not mean that human beings are inherently violent—it means that there is something within us that, at times, reacts with a violent response.
Wherever there is violence, there is certainly a low level of awareness.
But awareness of what, exactly?
Awareness of our inner world, and of what it is—and what it can offer us.
Indeed, when we come into contact with our inner world, we discover that we can think about life in new ways, and we can choose to step away from that automatic dynamic (stimulus-response) that too often causes us to succumb to violence, losing all perception of ourselves and of others.
The path of violence, which overwhelms us with negative and destructive emotions, and with the inability to master ourselves and move toward the best version of who we are, could be described as the state of our absence from life.
So, what then is love—if violence is absence from life?
Quite simply, love is its opposite: Presence.
The ultimate purpose of every human being must be the ability to say, consciously:
“Here I am. I am here. I stay here.
I am here in life; I remain present to it, to honor life as the gift I receive within myself—breath by breath—and which allows me to be who I am.”
In truth, none of us exists without life.
Life enables us to express ourselves in the world.
It enables us to feel part of creation, and—through this sense of belonging—to become agents of transformation.
This is not about doing what everyone does, or about achieving the success that everyone deserves and has a right to express. It is something deeper and higher.
It is about feeling that love brings me closer to you.
It is about understanding that love helps me recognize the need for unity, the need for a shared improvement—a path, a process of evolution.
Whoever you are, by reflecting yourself in me, you allow me to see myself in you.
Only love can open me to this threefold dimension:
-
You and I, together (development)
-
You and I, on a journey (growth)
-
You and I, able to let go of all attachment (evolution)
Love Is the Element Without Which Nothing Exists for Me
Only through love can I feel the gift that life offers me, and understand that life itself was created for me, so that it may become an agent of change.
There is, therefore, a relationship of reciprocity between us and life—one that only love can make clear and strong.
In fact, only those who embrace love truly believe that change is possible.
“Here I am.
I am here.
I remain here.
Because I am aware that I am part of this whole.
Because I am aware that the task of change is mine.”
The law of love is the law that enables us to be in life, and—thanks to life—to transform ourselves.
It is a law to which we are all subject, but of which only some are aware, and only for some does it become a real advantage.
This advantage is for those who embrace love as the universal law of transformation.
